Tracy's Review: First Earl I See Tonight by Anna Bennett

First Earl I See Tonight (Debutante Diaries, #1)

💖💖💖

I love Regency and I did like this book.  The actual writing style flowed nicely, and it was able to hold my attention.  But the plot was entirely believable.  I liked the fact the Fiona was a bit of a maverick.  She found herself in a sticky situation and proposed a marriage of convenience to Gray, hoping he would accept and allow her an allowance to pay her way out.  However, why would she be the one being blackmailed?  Maybe because the blackmailer thought she was the easiest target?  Except they had never met.  And I felt Gray's reluctance to accept did not make sense.  I would think he would welcome a marriage of convenience.  His father had mismanaged the Earldom and the coffers were empty.  He would get the money to fix his estate and not have to worry about falling in love.  That was a brow scruncher.  And then when you find out who the villain is.....kind of out of left field.

This was my first Anna Bennett book and I will probably read the next in the series when it is released.

Tracy's Review: Dirty Headlines by L.J. Shen

Dirty Headlines

💖💖💖💖💖

NOBODY writes a seemingly nonredeemable asshole like L.J. Shen!!  Celian is like those weird candies I used to get from my grandparents at Christmas.  They were hard, not very sweet and got frustratingly stuck in your teeth.  But once you got to the middle, there was a sweet, soft center that made it worth it.

                 🍬🍭😏😛🍭🍬

After a one night stand that hit her in her morals, Jude was hoping to never see Celian again.  Oopps, guess who's her new boss???  Jude is the perfect foil for Celian's bad attitude.  She gives as good as she gets.  Her little conversations with Jesus were laugh out loud funny.  She has an open heart and her priorities in order.  Celian is so used to being a hard ass and unfeeling, he doesn't recognize when he starts to thaw out.  He is fascinated by Jude and can't keep his dirty talking sexy ass away from her.  Even though he should.

There is so much depth to this story.  I don't want to give any spoilers because there are several threads of the story that compel you to keep reading.  Seeing Celian make mistake after mistake because he is so clueless about his feelings only to lose everything and then be redeemed was one heck of a ride.  Plus the hot sex scenes could very well melt your eyeballs.
