Tracy's Review: First Earl I See Tonight by Anna Bennett

First Earl I See Tonight (Debutante Diaries, #1)

💖💖💖

I love Regency and I did like this book.  The actual writing style flowed nicely, and it was able to hold my attention.  But the plot was entirely believable.  I liked the fact the Fiona was a bit of a maverick.  She found herself in a sticky situation and proposed a marriage of convenience to Gray, hoping he would accept and allow her an allowance to pay her way out.  However, why would she be the one being blackmailed?  Maybe because the blackmailer thought she was the easiest target?  Except they had never met.  And I felt Gray's reluctance to accept did not make sense.  I would think he would welcome a marriage of convenience.  His father had mismanaged the Earldom and the coffers were empty.  He would get the money to fix his estate and not have to worry about falling in love.  That was a brow scruncher.  And then when you find out who the villain is.....kind of out of left field.

This was my first Anna Bennett book and I will probably read the next in the series when it is released.
