Tracy's Review: Irresistible by Melanie Harlow

I’m a full-time single dad to three daughters and CFO at Cloverleigh Farms. I don’t have time to fall in love—I’m too busy trying to run a business, keep the red socks out of the white laundry, and get the damn pillowcases on without owing a dollar to the swear jar.
Sure, Frannie Sawyer is beautiful and sweet, but she’s twenty-seven, the boss’s daughter, and my new part-time nanny—which means she’s completely off-limits. It’s bad enough I can’t stop fantasizing about her, what kind of jerk would I be if I acted on the impulse to kiss her?
(Exactly the kind of jerk you’re thinking.)
Actually, I’m worse than that—because I didn’t stop with a kiss, and now I can’t stay away.  She makes me feel like myself again. She reminds me what it’s like to want something just for me. She’s everything I ever needed, but nothing I ever imagined.
I’m a former Marine. I should have had the strength to resist her from the start.
But I didn’t. And now I have to choose between the life I want and the life she deserves.
Even if it means giving her up.

I loved every single minute I spent reading this book!!! Frannie and Mack's journey was real and beautiful. I cried over Mack's struggle to be the best parent he could be and to always put his children first. He was doing a great job, despite his distress, because these girls were fantastic.

Frannie was a shining star. She decided what she wanted from life and really went for it, despite so many obstacles. Her love for Mack's girls was a beautiful thing.  Frannie knew that those girls were Mack's number one priority and was fine with it.  She didn't want to to take time away from them, she wanted to share it.

The conflict was so heartbreaking.  I wanted to yell and throw things at Mack's stubbornness.  I could understand his thoughts about their relationship, but I wanted him to be more open to possibilities.  The very real consequences of his decision had such an impact on all their lives and made him see that things could be different.  I loved that Frannie was so accepting of Mack and his worries.

This was one of those books I wish I could read for the first time again.  I can't recommend it enough and I am really looking forward to meeting some of these characters again as the series continues.

**make sure to click on the link at the end of the book for the bonus epilogue.  You won't be disappointed.  I smiled the whole time!

Tracy's Review: Devil's Daughter (The Ravenels, #5) by Lisa Kleypas

Devil's Daughter (The Ravenels #5)

💖💖💖💖💖

Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite historical romance authors.  Her Wallflower Series was my favorite, with The Devil in Winter the shining star for me, and I LOVED that we got a quick glimpse into what their lives look like now.  So you can imagine how anxiously I was waiting for Devil's Daughter to be released. It did not disappoint me.  West and Phoebe's story is romantic and humorous (the tea cup scene was particularly amusing to me), while also leaving me with a sense of calm.  Like a warm hug.

We have seen West Ravenel  in the previous 4 books really grow and mature and I was glad to finally get into his head.  He is my favorite kind of hero.  He feels unworthy and too damaged so he doesn't want to "inflict" himself on any woman for life.  Especially Phoebe.  While all he can see about himself are the mistakes and transgressions from the past, others see his big heart, fantastic sense of humor, great work ethic and intelligence.  I particularly enjoyed how natural and entertaining West's rapport was with Phoebe's children. 😍😍  I actually teared up when he explained to Phoebe why he couldn't be with her.  He really tried to stay away from her to protect her from his past.

I will admit to being a tiny bit confused at Phoebe's almost repressed personality.  I expected more fire or gumption from Sebastian and Evie's daughter.  But as she throws off the shadow of being Henry's wife and all that being his caretaker entailed, I finally saw that sass I was expecting.  As I got a good look at what her life had been like, I had a better understanding of why it took so long fir her to really come into herself.

A little bit of intrigue, fantastic characters, excellent humor and amazing sexy times make for a fabulous addition to the Ravenel series.  So worth the wait!

Tracy's Review: Gianna (The Dimarco Series, #3) by Jennifer Hanks

Gianna (The Dimarco Series, #3)

💖💖💖💖

WHOA!!!  This book was so anxiety ridden from the beginning.  I knew that Jax was the wrong brother from the snippet, but man was I nervous for Gia.  And poor Jax and Kasey.  The misinformation that Gia had an impact on so many lives.  Once the mistaken identity is sorted out, Brody is so glad to see Gia again and falls instantly in love with little Lexi.  As did I!  Lexi is pretty awesome.  So many times authors write kids into their stories and the reader has to wonder if said author has ever been around real children.
Brody and Gia are really unsure where they stand with each other.  He wants to keep both of "his girls" but is afraid of what his PTSD will lead him to do.  She isn't sure she wants to have romantic love after what her parents put her through.  Despite each of their reservations, the love they both have for Lexi and the hot attraction they have for each other can not be denied.

Just like the previous books in the series, there is intrigue here.  There is a character so despicable, I literally gasped out loud.  I also loved the fact that Gia was smart enough not to go half-cocked into a precarious situation.  She used her brain and saved herself.  And also like the previous books, there is a dramatic cliffhanger that will have you reading the next book immediately!

Tracy’s Review: Dating the Enemy by Nicole Williams

Dating the Enemy

💖💖💖1/2

My thoughts on Dating the Enemy are a dichotomy.
Nicole Williams writes a good romance. I really enjoyed the banter between Brooks and Hannah. She is a bit sassy, knows what she wants and goes for it. Brooks started off as a bit of a d-bag, but he really wasn't and did show it.  The grand gesture at the end was good, as was the article that instigated it.

However, I am irrationally angry at the whole “social experiment “ thing and the stupid boss, Mr Conrad. He is an idiotic misogynist who has no regard for real people. Hannah should have called HR or quit on him immediately and then write an expose. GAAAHHH WHY WOULD SHE WANT TO WORK FOR THIS ASSHOLE!!???!?!?  I understand we needed the plot device for the animosity between Brooks and Hannah, but this was so crazy to me!  These are peoples lives here.  And they were forced to compete in this stupid "experiment" to win a promotion????

I almost put this down because their boss was such a sexist jackass.  But I kept going and Brooks and Hannah won me over.  The article at the end tugged at my heartstrings and made it worth the journey.

Tracy's Review: Work in Progress by Staci Hart

Work In Progress: A Marriage of Convenience Romantic Comedy

💖💖💖💖

I am enjoying the Red Lipstick Coalition series more and more with each new story.  Amelia and Tommy's story is my favorite so far.  Tommy is hiding in plain sight.  His public persona is a construct to keep people out of his true personal life.  Amelia appears painfully shy, but as you get to know her, you realize that she is not so much shy as uncomfortable in crowds.  A speech impediment that she had as a child also contributes to her aversion to people.  When these two cross paths, sparks fly!

Amelia can see the real Tommy and decides to help him when he presents her with a crazy idea to try and save his latest book.  She knows that he has such a big lovely heart hidden under his crazy public image.  Tommy knows that Amelia is a rare find and doesn't want to ruin her, but is so grateful for her help.  Their relationship gave me the warm fuzzies.  They were so unsure of each other romantically, but trusted each other as friends, and really rescued each other.

Seeing them both grow and change for the better was a joy to watch.  Amelia came out of her shell and had such confidence because Tommy made her feel so safe.  Tommy was able to stop hiding and be authentic because Amelia made him feel safe.  They were so protective of each other that when the angst hit, I was worried about how Staci Hart would resolve it.

Never fear....love wins out in the end!  The resolution was great and Staci Hart drops a huge bomb at the end for Katherine's book that will leaving you chomping at the bit for the last in the series.
